This is a single file working "FULL" restore of an AppleTV.
Restore image is based on 2.0.2 and all you have to do is DD it to an empty HD.

After that do a restore/recovery from within AppleTV..
Made from a 60GB hd, but just restore and ignore any errors. 
Only the first 2GB, the rest is the Image partition, and AppleTV will recreate it on a restore..

For windows users:

Use "dd --list" to find you hd. WARNING choosing the wrong disk will overwrite it.

"dd if=appletvfullcompressed.img of=\?DeviceHardiskXPartition0 bs=1M --progress"

("dd if=/dev/zero of=\?DeviceHardiskXPartition0 bs=1M count=1M --progress" ) to zero it before write.

You want to write it to Partition0 since this is the whole disk.. 
X is the disk you want to use in your AppleTV.

need help here... iam using a mac.. so...

im using:
dd if=/Users/me/smallatv.dmg of=/dev/disk1 bs=1024k

but its not working dont know why!...

Have you tried to do a restore ??
Else delete partition 4 and do a restore.
AppleTv should recreate the media partition.

Restore, same problem, deleted media part, appletv dont start, rezise the media partion worked fine
Now my appleTV 2.3. 160gb :-)
